Bicyclist, 68, Struck By Police Vehicle In New Canaan: Police

A 68-year-old bicyclist was​ injured after being struck by a New Canaan Police vehicle in town, according to police.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 68-year-old bicyclist was struck by a New Canaan Police vehicle Monday night in the area of South Avenue, according to police.

In an email, Police Lt. Jason Ferraro said the police vehicle exited the parking lot of 156 South Avenue around 9 p.m. As the vehicle's driver turned right out of the parking lot, they struck a bicyclist, Ferraro said.

The bicyclist, a New Canaan resident, suffered non-life threatening injuries from being struck by the front of the vehicle and was brought to Norwalk Hospital for further evaluation and treatment, Ferraro said.
