Boston Marathon Pioneer To Run At Waveny Park June 19

Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to officially finish the Boston Marathon, will appear at the Summer Cross Country Series in New Canaan.

NEW CANAAN, CT — From Club Connecticut: Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to officially finish the Boston Marathon, and a lifetime pioneer for women’s running, will appear at the Summer Cross Country Series at Waveny Park in New Canaan next Tuesday, June 19.

She’ll be accompanied by her husband, Roger Robinson, one of the preeminent running writers in the world, who will have copies of his new book, “When Running Made Hisotry,” for sale and signing.

Both of them will run the race, which begins at 7 p.m., following which Robinson will read selections from his book on the porch of Waveny House. The event is free and open to all, whether they run in the race or not.
