Burglars Strike New Canaan, Darien and Norwalk

Police are investigating a number of similar daytime burglaries in the towns.

Police from New Canaan, Darien and Norwalk are investigating a number of daytime burglaries with similarities.

Police in New Canaan investigating a reported burglary on Oct. 31 on Snowberry Lane. An alarm went off around 10:49 a.m. and police were dispatched. The rear window of the garage was opened and there was shattered glass in a mud room area, police said.

Pieces of jewelry were taken and homeowners are still figuring out which items are missing.

Police spokesman Lt. Jason Ferraro said that the burglars typically strike between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in New Canaan, Darien and Norwalk during weekdays. He reminded residents to set any house alarm and keep doors and windows locked when no one is home.

Darien Police are investigating a burglary that happened on Talmadge Hill Road Oct. 21 sometime before 10 a.m. An off-duty officer heard of a burglary over the Norwalk town line and saw a vehicle matching the given description. A safe was found disposed of on Route 123 in Norwalk.

Papers inside led police back to the Talmadge address and they discovered the home was burglarized.

The garage door was partially open and the interior garage door was forced open, police said. A stereo was among items removed form the home. Important paperwork from the safe was missing.
