Bus Service Scheduled In New Canaan During Metro-North Repairs

The use of buses will begin this weekend in New Canaan, according to officials.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Weekend rail service on the Metro-North New Canaan Line will be replaced by buses on several dates this spring as crews complete infrastructure upgrades at the Stamford rail yard, transportation officials said.

Buses will replace all Saturday and Sunday trains on the following weekends: April 10, April 17, April 24, May 1, May 8, May 15, May 29 and June 5.

On Fridays during those weeks, the final train departing New Canaan and the last three trains leaving Stamford will also be replaced by buses. The buses will connect with New Haven Line trains at Stamford.

Officials advised riders to plan ahead, noting that bus departures may leave up to 30 minutes earlier than scheduled train times.

During Memorial Day weekend, May 22 through May 25, trains will operate on a Sunday schedule.

The service changes are part of ongoing improvements being carried out by the Connecticut Department of Transportation at the Stamford rail yard.
