Car Theft Warning Again Issued In New Canaan
In 2017, the most recent year of available data, 15 vehicles were reported stolen in New Canaan.
NEW CANAAN, CT — Car thieves are continuing to target New Canaan, according to police officials, who Wednesday issued another warning to residents urging them to lock their vehicles.
"GUESS WHO IS BACK...YEP THE BAD GUYS ARE STEALING CARS FROM TOWN AND TAKING VALUABLES Cars are not being locked, valuables are being taken and keys are being left in cars overnight," officials stated on the department's Instagram page.
The exact number of vehicles stolen or burglarized in recent days/weeks was not disclosed, nor were the locations in town of where the incidents occurred.

In 2017, the most recent year of available data, 15 vehicles were reported stolen in New Canaan, a marked increase from the previous year, according to the Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy at Central Connecticut State University.

"All this results in stolen cars and lost valuables," wrote New Canaan police. "This is a preventable crime!!! Take action and don't become a victim!!"
