Modern-day impressionist Rob Longley uses varied styles in his paintings to fulfill his creativity. He states, “…my more ‘contemporary’ work satisfies a part of me that my ‘traditional’ work does not. But I still find my ‘traditional’ work gratifying… so after much thought, I decided to work at both.” His nighttime urban paintings glow with long strokes of crimson and indigo, while thickly-painted sunlight illuminates his traditional waterscapes.

Miranda Girard blends a classically trained Studio Escalier style with an impressionistic love of texture and palette knife in her portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. A subtle rainbow of color is found throughout many of her works – especially in skin, sky, and water. Girard searches for obscure hues in all she paints, sometimes exaggerating certain colors to push a narrative or mood.

Reverie, romance, and timelessness are words that come to mind when viewing Rafaella Laroche’s carefully constructed photographs. A dew-kissed dried rose, an elegant ballet dancer, the bend of a model’s spine – Laroche, an avid poet, brings poetic knowledge to her photography by turning everyday, standard subjects into breath-catching icons.
