This Memorial Day weekend, the Hannah Benedict Carter Chapter, NSDAR, is commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War and is highlighting the service of women and the Vietnam Women’s Memorial, located on the grounds of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Over 265,000 women served in the armed forces during the Vietnam War, all were volunteers. Approximately 10,000 women in uniform served during the war, fought next to the men, some giving the ultimate sacrifice, their life.
The chapter invites all to take part in remembering the women that served, along with the men by participating in the New Canaan Memorial Day services.
