Country School’s Comizio Named CT School Psychologist of the Year
The Connecticut Association of School Psychologists presented the prestigious award to Mrs. Rebecca Comizio June 4

Rebecca Comizio, school psychologist at New Canaan Country School, has been selected to be the 2018-2019 “Connecticut School Psychologist of the Year” by the Connecticut Association of School Psychologists, based on nominations and recommendations from supervisors and colleagues.
“Rebecca is recognized for her outstanding work with students, staff and families and her tireless commitment to supporting excellence and best practices in the field of school psychology,” said CASP President H. Thomas Brant who presented her the honor on June 5. “Her creative efforts in using social media to provide professional development and her commitment to maintaining the highest professional standards in school psychology are just several of the reasons that she has been awarded this prestigious honor.”
Mrs. Comizio, who works with Country School students age 3 through Grade 5, is known to her students as “the feelings teacher.” She holds a B.S. in Secondary English Education and Philosophy from Central Connecticut State University, an M.A. in Philosophy and Education from Columbia University, and an M.A. in School Psychology from Iona College. She also works as an independent contractor for The Waverly Group, counseling children, adolescents and parents. She runs the School PsychEd Podcast with two other school psychologists, a podcast by school psychologists for school psychologists, and her @yourschoolpsychologist has almost 50,000 followers on Facebook. Mrs. Comizio is Chair of the National Association of School Psychologists’ Communications Committee, a NASP Leader and coauthor of 70 Play Activities for Better Thinking, Self Regulation, Learning & Behavior.

“This honor comes as no surprise to us here at Country School,” said Head of School Aaron Cooper. “Becca is deeply knowledgeable about the social-emotional lives of children. She brings that expertise, coupled with kindness and compassion, to our students and families every day. We are incredibly fortunate to have Becca work alongside our classroom teachers and the rest of our community.”
