Court Plea Entered By 1 Of 2 Accused New Canaan Cafeteria Thieves

Two sisters who formerly worked for the New Canaan School System were arrested last month for allegedly stealing nearly $500,000.

NEW CANAAN, CT — One of the two sisters accused of stealing nearly $500,000 from the New Canaan High School and Saxe Middle School cafeterias pleaded not guilty in Norwalk Superior Court, reports News 12 Connecticut.

Joanne Pascarelli pleaded not guilty, while Marie Wilson is expected to enter the same plea at a later date, according to the publication. Through their attorneys, both defendants deny the charges.

The two stand accused of taking money from the cafeteria registers from at least 2012 to 2017, but the alleged thefts may have occurred for closer to 15 years.
