Coyote Sightings Increase In New Canaan: Animal Control

All dogs should be supervised when outdoors in light of increased coyote sightings in town, according to New Canaan Animal Control.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Coyote sighings have recently increased in town and New Canaan Animal Control urges residents to take some precautions.

According to the New Canaan Police Department's Facebook page, increased coyote sightings may be due to the current breeding season, during which coyote activity can increase and males can become more territorial.

All dogs should be supervised when outdoors, as a coyote may recognize the animal as a threat to their territory, and hazing tools should be at the ready, according to animal control.
