Decision Made On Classes At New Canaan Public Schools For March 3

A winter weather advisory has now been extended to most of Connecticut as snow and ice are forecast.

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan Public Schools are closed Tuesday as a mix of snow, ice and rain are all in the forecast for Connecticut.

According to the district's website, schools are closed March 3 due to expected icy conditions mid-morning into early evening.

"Overnight, a winter weather advisory was issued due to the potentially hazardous conditions expected this afternoon and into the evening," the district's website reads. "Snow, sleet and freezing rain will move into our area between 10 [a.m.] - 11:30 [a.m.], and temperatures are expected to run very cold for the majority of the day and into the evening. If you must travel, please be safe."

A winter weather advisory has been extended to the entire state except for the immediate coast, as snow and sleet are forecast for Tuesday.
