His older brother, Joey, designed a moving hockey tribute to the deceased New Canaan 10-year-old.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Four days after his tragic passing, donations continue to pour into the GoFundMe page for Nico Mallozzi, the 10-year-old New Canaan youth hockey player who died on Jan. 14 of complications from the flu.

As of Thursday morning, Jan. 18, more than $147,000 had been donated by 1,340 people, blowing past the goal of $100,000. The crowdfunding page was established by Kirsten Morin on behalf of Nico's mother, Mimma Mallozzi.

Nico played for the Connecticut Roughriders hockey team out of Norwalk, and his older brother, Joey, designed the #7 logo above as a tribute to Nico.

"One of Nico's coaches described him best: Nico's sly little smile and charm have captivated, entertained and kept us on our toes," wrote Morin on GoFundMe. "Our rink won't be the same with out him. Nico was an amazing player, teammate and friend.... not to mention, a bit of jokester with a trademark smile."
