Dr. Henny Panduro Madsen Risom: Retired Osteopath; Devoted Grandmother, Great-Grandmother
The New Canaan resident passed away Oct. 10 at the age of 97.

Dr. Henny Panduro Madsen Risom died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015. She was 97.
Henny was born Dec. 18, 1917 in Copenhagen, Denmark, a daughter of Holger Isodoro Panduro and Maria Sophie Gornitzka Panduro.

In 1943 she married Frits Madsen, an engineer, in Copenhagen. Henny finished medical school in German occupied Denmark in 1945. They had 2 children, Michael an internist in Vancouver, Canada, and a daughter, Helle Jacobsen, a lawyer, in London, England.
In 1951 Henny and Frits moved to London. Henny created an osteopathy practice that lasted for the next 25 years. Frits died in 1975.

In 1979 Henny married Jens Risom and they have lived in New Canaan ever since. In 2010 they moved to The Inn.
Besides being an accomplished doctor and osteopath, Henny was an incredible sewer, knitter and gourmet cook. She and Jens traveled around the world together visiting family and friends and seeing new places.
She is survived by 5 grandchildren Jade (Jacobsen) and Trevor Moore of England and Charlotte Jacobsen of Brooklyn, NY, Jay, Christian and Kiera Madsen of Vancouver, Canada; a son-in-law, Kjeld Jacobsen of London, and a daughter-in-law Laura Madsen also of Vancouver. Also D’Ann Madsen of Vancouver. Henny had 2 great-grandchildren Annabel and James Moore of England.
She was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother making annual trips to London.
She was also step-mother to Helen Risom Belluschi, Peggy and Sherman Bull, Tom and Pam Risom of Old Lyme and Sven and Laura Risom of Block Island, RI. She also was step-grandparent to 11, and a step-great grandparent to 10.
The family is so thankful for the loving care throughout all these months from Teyona and Hospice and everyone at the Inn.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, 178 Oenoke Ridge, New Canaan.
In lieu of flowers, Henny asked for donations to Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County, Norwalk, or The Inn, Waveny Life Care.
