Estranged Husband, His Girlfriend Arrested In Jennifer Dulos Case

The two were taken into custody Saturday night in Avon and face multiple charges. Jennifer Dulos, missing since May 24, has not been found.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Fotis Dulos, the estranged husband of missing New Canaan mom Jennifer Dulos, has been arrested in connection with her disappearance, New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski announced Sunday.

The 51-year-old husband - and his girlfriend Michelle C. Troconis, 44 - were taken into custody at about 11 p.m. Saturday night in Avon and transfered to the New Canaan Police Department for processing.

Fifty-year-old Jennifer Dulos, a mother of five who has been missing since May 24, still has not been found, according to Krolikowski. The search for her is ongoing.

"Since receiving the initial call that Jennifer was missing on May 24, 2019, the New Canaan Police Department Patrol Division and Investigative Section in partnership with the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad, with the assistance of Federal Law Enforcement Agencies, and other Connecticut law enforcement agencies worked around the clock to locate Jennifer by exploring all leads and tips," Krolikowski stated. "This law enforcement team launched both a missing person investigation and a criminal investigation, and they have worked together throughout the State of Connecticut.

"Based on facts and evidence gathered during the criminal investigation, arrest warrants were completed for Fotis Dulos and Michelle C. Troconis. The arrest warrants were reviewed by a State’s Attorney and a Superior Court Judge, who found probable cause and signed both arrest warrants."

Both Fotis Dulos and Troconis were charged with:

  • Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence
  • Hindering Prosecution in the First Degree

Chief Krolikowski did not elaborate on the circumstances as to why the two were arrested on those charges, but police have been searching local parks and multiple properties in Connecticut and Pound Ridge, NY looking for evidence in connection with Jennifer Dulos' disappearance.

Fotis Dulos and Jennifer Dulos were in the midst of a contentious, two-year-long divorce and custody battle at the time of her disappearance, and her mother and the estate of her late father sued Fotis Dulos for seven-figures worth of unpaid loans, according to court records.

The two are each being held in lieu of bail of $500,000, and they are expected to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on June 3. Fotis Dulos is being held at Bridgeport Correctional Center, while Troconis is being held at the New Canaan police station.

"Both the missing person and the criminal investigations are active and dynamic," Krolikowski stated. "As the criminal investigation progresses, additional criminal charges are expected."

The second of two prayer vigils for Jennifer Dulos is scheduled for Sunday, June 2, at 6 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in New Canaan.
