“Winged Obsession” has been recommended as one of the best non-fiction reads of the year. One reviewer says it “reads like a taut thriller, full of crime, deception, and bizarre twists” rather than a true story of the world of illegal butterfly trading.

Jessica began her writing career authoring a series of ten Rachel Porter Mystery novels. She created her mystery sleuth -- U.S. Fish and Wildlife Agent Rachel Porter -- after years of investigating wildlife and drug-trafficking crimes for publications such as The New York Times Magazine, Omni, Travel & Leisure, Audubon, National Wildlife, Mother Jones, Wildlife Conservation, Earth Journal and Animals Magazine.

In addition to teaching writing workshops, Jessica has lectured at the American Museum of Natural History, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and at chapters of the Audubon Society. Prior to writing, Jessica worked as an actress in NYC, where she appeared off-Broadway, as well as in commercials and soap operas.

The Senior Men’s Club of New Canaan is open for membership applications. Applicants are especially welcome to attend this meeting.  Visit www.smcnc.org for more information or call Membership Chairman Jerry Transue at 203 966-6050.
