Eversource Hosts Natural Gas Expansion Open House Tonight

NEW CANAAN, CT — Eversource is hosting a Gas Expansion Open House tonight, March 29, to help New Canaan residents better understand the upcoming natural gas expansion project coming to parts of the town over the next couple of years.

Thursday night's event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Saxe Middle School Cafeteria (468 South Avenue) in New Canaan.

"There will be multiple 'information stations' covering topics ranging from the basics of natural gas, to finding a contractor, to financing," wrote Eversource spokesperson Mitch Gross in a statement. "Potential customers will be able to see neighborhood maps showing our proposed construction schedule. And yes, they’ll be able to sign-up for natural gas service tonight."

Below is the text of a letter from Eversource that was recently mailed to New Canaan residents in the impacted areas:

Dear Homeowner:

Eversource is working with First Selectman Kevin J. Moynihan and other town officials to bring natural gas to
your neighborhood. Soon you will be able to take advantage of the benefits of natural gas. You may also qualify for the following limited-time offers to help you make the switch from oil or propane:

• You may qualify for a free gas connection from the street to your home (a $5,000 value for the gas service line). Call us soon to find out.
  
• $250 credit on your Eversource gas bill when you switch to natural gas for heating your home. (Available 2/15/18 – 6/30/18. Special restrictions apply.)
  
• Up to $800 in instant discounts for high-efficiency natural gas heating equipment (ends 12/31/18).
  
• Low-interest financing for new equipment purchases when you make the switch from oil or propane.
