Firefighters Douse 3-Alarm House Fire In New Canaan: FD

The blaze was reported Saturday afternoon on Dan's Highway.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A three-alarm fire damaged a home on Dan's Highway in New Canaan Saturday afternoon, temporarily displacing the family after the house was deemed uninhabitable, according to fire officials.

No injuries were reported in the 2:30 p.m. blaze, which required New Canaan firefighters to call for mutual aid units from Norwalk, Wilton Pound Ridge, Noroton Heights and South Salem for assistance.

"First arriving units found the roof over the garage fully involved in fire," said New Canaan Fire Marshal Fred Baker in a statement, adding that New Canaan Police, EMS and Public Works also assisted at the scene.

The fire was declared under control by 4 p.m.; Baker said the occupants were home at the time, but were able to get out of the house.

"The State Fire Marshal's Office responded to assist with the investigation into the origin and cause of the fire," Baker said. "As of this writing the cause remains under investigation."
