First Dean Of Students Named For Saxe Middle School In New Canaan
Jonathan Adams has been appointed as Saxe Middle School's first dean of students, according to New Canaan Public Schools.
NEW CANAAN, CT — Jonathan Adams has been named the first dean of students for Saxe Middle School, New Canaan Public Schools announced this week.
According to a news release, Adams will collaborate with the school's students and staff to develop programs and activities to "promote a positive school climate and culture."
He will also serve as a liaison to community organizations that support the school's students, encourage a smooth transition to Saxe for students and oversee other activities that promote a safe and effective school environment, district officials said.

Principal David Gusitsch said the school was excited to welcome Adams into this new role.
"[Adams'] background, experience and professional approach are a great fit," Gusitsch said, "and he will continue to have a positive impact on our students, our staff, and our overall learning community. We are grateful for this opportunity to have Mr. Adams serve as our first dean of students."

Adams joined the district in 2010 as a health education teacher at Saxe and has served as the school's K-12 health and physical education coordinator since 2016. He has also served as a member of the Curriculum Leadership Council, Emotional Intelligence Team and the Employee Wellness Committee.
