Live music venue Gates Restaurant will be hosting their third ‘Battle of the Bands’ in January 2022. Hosted by radio presenter Jon Kamal, sponsored by Karl Chevrolet, and produced by Rock Paper Scissors Custom Events, this fierce competition brings in talented bands from all over Fairfield County and beyond. Competing in the 2022 battle are
- Saturday 15th - Sound Creation Station vs Rock Paper Soul
- Saturday 22nd - Grandpa Moses vs Mind The Gap
- Saturday 29th - Major Trends vs All Night Thing
Each heat will eliminate one band and put the other through, based on the audience’s reaction and host radio presenter Jon Kamal’s final decision. The finalists will then play against each other for the ticketed finale on Saturday, February 5th, 2022, from 8:30pm.
At the final, each band will play two songs each, one will then be eliminated by expert guest judges. The next round sees an ‘epic battle’ where the two remaining bands MUST play the SAME song which has been given in advance. This year it is 'Fat Bottomed Girls' (Queen) This is no easy feat for the bands, who must share the stage, basic equipment and learn the song in advance. For the audience it’s electrifying.

The expert panel of judges include International best-selling author James Frey and Jon Kamal. The four heats are FREE to the public. To attend the final costs $20 per person, with 50% of every sale being donated to Meals on Wheels, New Canaan. Previous winners include Mind The Gap (2019) and All Night Thing (2020).
