Horizons at New Canaan Country School will be participating in the annual Horizons Giving Day on Friday, May 20 to raise critical program funds to help support their year-round academic and enrichment programs serving 400 under-resourced students from Norwalk and Stamford each year. Donations can be made from May 1 to May 20 by visiting: www.HorizonsGivingDay.org/organizations/horizonsnccs.
The COVID-19 crisis has widened the disparities in educational access and opportunities faced by under-resourced students, and has made the services provided by Horizons more critical than ever.
“Horizons at NCCS is so much more than just a summer program. It’s a year-round program that supports the whole child and family. We have been providing support for many years and have experience navigating the different scenarios that come and go in our families’ lives. Though this is certainly more complex than any scenario we’ve previously faced, we feel armed and ready to take it on,” said Carolyn Woodberry, Horizons at NCCS Board Chair.

Executive Director, Nancy von Euler said: “We are committed to being flexible and creative in delivering the support and programming our students and families need at this very uncertain time.”
Horizons is a non-profit organization that must raise its entire $1.8 million budget annually to cover the cost of their tuition-free programming. The model works and its success is demonstrated in the outstanding high school and college outcomes that show Horizons students are beating the odds. Last year 100% of the program’s seniors graduated from high school on time and 97% were enrolled in college in the fall.
