Intoxicated Man Had 4 Kids in Car: New Canaan PD

NEW CANAAN, CT — Police arrested a Bridgeport man after he was found driving while intoxicated with four young children in the vehicle, police said.

John Vieira, 35, was pulled over April 21 after police got reports of an erratic driver who almost caused several head-on collisions. To sign up for New Canaan breaking news alerts and more, click here.

Vieira failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest, according to police. He had four children ranging in age from 1 to 6-years-old in his vehicle and all of them didn't have seat belts or car seats.

Vieira took a BAC test and the result was .154, nearly twice the legal limit, police said.

He was charged with DUI and four counts of risk of injury to a minor.
