Jaime Guerrero, 56; Restaurateur, Former New Canaan Resident

Calling hours will be held Sunday, Dec. 21 with the funeral Mass scheduled for Monday, Dec. 22.

Jaime Guerrero, 56, of Ridgefield, passed away peacefully after a long battle against cancer on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 at his home surrounded by his close family and friends.

Jaime was born in San Bernardo, Colombia in 1958 where he lived for 20 years until leaving to travel the world working for various luxury cruise line companies. While working he met the love of his life, wife Nubia, and they moved to Stamford, in 1986 to pursue his dreams and raise his family.

Jaime was an artistic, passionate, and hardworking man of many talents blessed with the ability to inspire everyone around him. He began his career in the jewelry business, opening Jimmy Jewelers in Stamford, in 1996. He then ventured into the restaurant business opening Brasitas Restaurant in Stamford, in 1998 and expanding to Norwalk, in 2007.

Jaime lived his life to fullest enjoying simple pleasures such as cycling, running, painting, reading and cooking. He was a charismatic and generous individual who changed the lives of many. He formerly lived in New Canaan.

Jaime is survived by his wife Nubia of 26 years, daughter Jeanelle, son Nicholas, mother Mercedes, loving siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Dec. 22, at 10 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 566 Elm St., Stamford. Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford from 1 to 7 P.M. on Sunday, Dec. 21.
