Janice Roberts Wilford, 86; Long-time New Canaan Resident

Janice Roberts Wilford, 86, a resident of New Canaan for almost 40 years died Wednesday evening Sept. 17, 2014 at Stamford Hospital.

Born in Bridgeport, on Jan. 17, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Edward and Frances Meriman Roberts.

After graduating from Connecticut College she went to work in New York City at Columbia Artists Management Inc where she met her future husband of 14 years, Ronald A Wilford. She returned to Connecticut in 1976 and worked for Community Concerts. She was a long time member of the Fairfield County Hunt Club.

Janice was a passionate supporter of the arts and frequently would travel back to NY for exhibits, dance performances, concerts, recitals and the Opera. She also had a great love of animals and generously donated to both cat and dog rescue organizations over the course of her life.

Janice is survived by her son, Chris, his wife Meredith, and their daughter Addison Anne of New York City.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. at St Mark’s Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge, New Canaan. Interment will be private in the family plot in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.
