Joel E. Mann: Entertainment Lawyer Who Worked for Major Movie Studios
The long-time resident of New Canaan died Sept. 27 at the age of 82.

Joel Easton Mann, 82, a longtime resident of both Darien and New Canaan, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, CT with his loving wife, Barbara, by his side.
Joel was born November 16, 1932 to Julius and Fanny (Bomstein) Mann in Bridgeport, CT, the younger of two sons.

After graduating from Central High School in Bridgeport, CT in 1949, he attended Union College in Schenectady, NY where he was a member of Kappa Nu Fraternity and graduated in 1953. He then pursued a law degree and graduated from Harvard Law School in 1957.
Joel enjoyed a successful legal career specializing in the entertainment industry. After working with Weissberger & Frosch in NY, NY, he ventured west to Los Angeles, CA and the booming television and motion picture industry where he worked for Universal Studios. He then returned to his East Coast roots, working for Columbia Pictures and eventually retiring from the Hearst Corporation. Joel had a wide range of interests, but he especially loved classical music, theatre, and traveling and had a soft spot for animals.

In addition to his wife, Barbara Greenblatt Mann, he is survived by his daughter Jessica (David) Kennedy of Weston, Florida; daughter Adrienne (Tom) Youmans of Salem, Oregon; grandchildren Andrew, Julian and Megan Kennedy; and brother Ralph (Bebe) Mann of Long Island, New York.
Memorial services will be held at 4:30 pm, Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan, CT.
