Landlord Accused Of Turning Off Heat, Electricity: New Canaan PD

A New Canaan landlord accused of turning off a tenant's heat and electricity was recently arrested, according to police.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A New Canaan landlord accused of turning off a tenant's utilities was arrested last week, police said.

According to an arrest summary provided by police, the department received a report on Jan. 21 of a landlord turning off utilities at a Garibaldi Lane apartment.

The caller reported the heat and electricity were no longer working at the apartment. Officers later determined the apartment's landlord, Dinesh Parmar, 63, of New Canaan, was responsible for the utilities being turned off, police said.

On March 10, Parmar turned himself in on a warrant to New Canaan police. He was charged with violation of home/office health requirements and released on a promise to appear in court later this month, according to police.
