Lengthy Closure Planned For Bridge Replacement In New Canaan

Work will begin in July, and the bridge will be closed until around Thanksgiving, the New Canaan Advertiser reported.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Beginning this summer, a portion of Ponus Ridge Road will be closed in order to replace a bridge that carries the roadway over Collins Pond, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.

A detour proposed with the project utilizes Greenley Road, West Road and Dans Highway, the Advertiser reported.

Work will begin in July, and the bridge will remain closed until around Thanksgiving, the Advertiser said.

About 80 percent of the project's cost will be funded by the federal government, and up to 20 percent would come from the state of Connecticut, the Advertiser reported.

The bridge was originally built in 1957.
