Local Millennial Has Knack For Action, Thriller, Romance Novels
New Canaan Author E.S. Ready

E.S. Ready, New Canaan resident, is an author of two thriller/action/romance/adventure novels, Until Someday, and Crywood. He’s a millennial with a pension for period pieces. E.S., also known as Shane around town, has harnessed his love for history and creativity in a way that rivals many more accomplished authors, having completed two full length novels before he turned 30.
Deep, emotional arcs of his characters, combined with interesting plot lines, and visceral actions scenes, have touched readers of E.S. Ready. His genre-bending style attracts readers of all ages and backgrounds.
His first novel, Until Someday, is a mix of The Great Gatsby and Die Hard. Taking place in the 1920s, the story explores love, loss, revelry and violence through the eyes of hardened boxer and Great War veteran, Emmett Roane. Readers follow Ready’s protagonist as he struggles with the death of his fiancé while standing up to a vicious and desperate mob boss.

Dave Rudolf, an avid reader and educator in the Stamford school system for 38 years, had this to say about Ready’s second novel: “Once I started reading this book I just stayed with it, till the late, late hours. I was grabbed by the depth of emotion and empathy that I immediately felt when first introduced to Crywood. The character development throughout the story gave this tale such deep meaning for me and helped me to connect to many of the players. A great book, with many, many great messages. A must read!”
Crywood provides readers with a unique tale in a classic genre. E.S. realized that westerns are not as popular today as they once were, but the characters wouldn’t leave him. Themes of abandonment, family, redemption and legacy are elements for any great story, but work with even more potency given the backdrop of the brutal American West of the 1880’s.

Ready said, “I don’t believe that writing is something you chose, it chooses you. I’ve been kept up at night by characters that need to be expressed. It’s a weird process, and I don’t necessarily understand it, but I realize it’s a huge part of me and I have many more novels to produce.”
Ready's novels are available for purchase at Elm Street Books in New Canaan. Both novels are also available now on Amazon.
