Lu Lu the Missing Shitzu Has Been Returned Home

The five-year-old pooch has been reunited with her family after being missing for a week.

Some good news for one lucky New Canaan canine.  After a week of being on the lam, Lu Lu, a five-year-old shitzu that went missing June 5, has been returned home.

Lu Lu was found sleeping on the front porch of a New Canaan family's home on June 11. No one's quite sure what Lu Lu was up to during the seven days and six nights in what apparently was a winding tour of New Canaan.

According her owner Kate, Lu Lu wandered nearly three miles from her Ponus Ridge area home and was found in the 300 block of West Avenue.

Kate told New Canaan Patch in an email, "She had been in the woods or God knows where until (Wednesday) morning.  She was found sleeping on a porch this morning on couch-like patio furniture."

And Lu Lu has been given a clean bill of health. "I have since taken her to the vet where she was shaved, dewormed and the maggots that had bore into her were eliminated. I've been told that she will recover 100% and her disposition is light (and) happy which is incredible. I am full of joy and gratitude."
