Man Arrested For Alleged 'Murderous' Prank Call: New Canaan PD
The harassing voicemail was left for a Wells Fargo Bank employee.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 21-year-old New Britain man was arrested on a warrant charging him with second-degree harassment in connection with a threatening voicemail message left for an employee of a Wells Fargo Bank in New Canaan, according to police.
Cory J. Roath surrendered to police on Dec. 14 in connection with the October phone call, which Roath allegedly told police was meant as a prank. The person who received the voicemail did not find it funny and notified authorities.
"The content of the message [indicated] that a murder [had] occurred and the body [had] been hidden," wrote New Canaan police in a statement. The caller said that they were involved in the murder, and that he would kill himself if police find him.

"The employee that received the message was upset by the message and concerned as to whether a crime as
mentioned in the message had actually occurred."
New Canaan police were able to discern the phone number from where the call came, and determined that Roath was the suspect. He later allegedly told police that no murder had occurred.
