Mead Park Pond Opens For Ice Skating In New Canaan
The pond was last open for ice skating in 2020, according to town officials.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The pond at Mead Memorial Park in New Canaan opened for ice skating this week following recent cold weather, according to town officials.
According to an announcement on the town website, the pond is open for skating from dawn to 10 p.m.
In an email to Patch, Recreation Director Steve Benko Jr. said skating on natural ice can be a challenge due to weather.

"We use the National Recreation and Parks guideline that says we should have 6 inches of ice on average before we open [the pond] for skating," Benko said Wednesday.
According to Benko, the pond was last open for skating in 2020.
