In Memoriam: Helen M. Yaker
The former New Canaan resident passed away Jan. 12 at the age of 88.

Helen Margaret (née Ginzburg) Yaker passed away at her home in Lexington, MA on January 12, 2016.
She was born on May 29, 1927 in New York City.

Her devoted husband of 54 years, Charles (Chuck) Yaker passed away in 2002.
Helen Yaker was educated at the University of Michigan, where she met Chuck. They were married in 1948 and lived in Cleveland, OH; Detroit, MI; North Muskegon, MI; Summit, NJ and Greenwich. Later Helen lived in New Canaan, and most recently Lexington, MA.

Together Helen and Chuck had many adventures but the most memorable was restoring a farmhouse in Barga, Italy where they spent many years and enjoyed the Italian life along with many friends and family. Helen was an artist whose beautiful landscapes were inspired by the Tuscan scenery.
Helen is survived by her sisters Judy Glazer of New Canaan, and Diana Stein of Dumfries, VA, brother-in-law Sam Yaker (Judy) of Bloomfield Hills, MI; son Jeff Yaker (Helen Smith) of Jensen Beach, FL; daughters Janet Yaker Murray (William Murray) of Albuquerque, NM and Laura Yaker (James Synge) of Lexington, MA; grandchildren Benjamin Yaker (Meredith Yaker), Jason Padilla, Daniel Yaker, Elizabeth and Ian Synge, Aaron and Kelli Chiu, Gabrielle and Callum North, and great-grandchildren Charles, Mary and Christopher Yaker.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter Sarah Anne Yaker Synge.
A funeral is planned for Monday, January 18, at 11 a.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave, Norwalk.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Helen G. Yaker to the Pancreatic Cancer Network (www.pancan.org).
