NEW CANAAN, CT—A mortar was removed from an Orchard Lane residence after a resident located the item while cleaning, according to police.
The incident happened around 2:50 p.m. Dec. 6. New Canaan Police and the Stamford Bomb Squad responded, said Lt. Jason Ferraro, police spokesman.
The device was secured and officials will determine if it's live or not on Thursday.
