NCCS Athletic Trainer Discusses Skeletal Systems with 5th Graders

New Canaan Country School fifth grade science students learn about the human skeletal system from a variety of sources, including a trainer

New Canaan Country School 5th grade science students were treated to a guest speaker today. Resident skeletal and muscular expert, NCCS Athletic Trainer Melissa Ryan-Knowlton, spoke to the students about common injuries experienced by different athletes such as sled hockey players (ice hockey for people with disabilities) and sprinters. With the assistance of an app, students were then able to identify various major muscles and bones. All part of their study of the human skeletal system.
