New Actions Being Taken in Face of New Canaan Water Supply Shortage

NEW CANAAN, CT—The State Department of Public Health has amended the public drinking water supply emergency order for four towns served by Aquarion.

For water customers not much will change. The order allows Aquarion to divert water from an additional source of supply and construct a temporary pipeline to bring water to New Canaan, Darien, Stamford and Greenwich.

The water supply emergency declaration was declared less than a month ago after drought conditions hit the area.

Greenwich has used various ordinances to help curb water use among consumers.
