New Canaan to Apply for Affordable Housing Moratorium
The moratorium would prevent developers from circumventing local zoning laws.

NEW CANAAN, CT —Town officials now believe that New Canaan has enough affordable housing stock to qualify for an 8-30g moratorium.
The state statute allows developers to circumvent local zoning laws if they include a certain amount of affordable housing units within a development.
The application should be submitted in March or April and the state should rule between then and August, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.
