New Canaan Audit Committee to Suspend Operations: Report

Citing a lack of cooperation from town departments and the school board, the committee will stop its advisory work.

Citing a lack of cooperation, the five-member audit committee appointed last year to oversee New Canaan’s municipal and education financial operations reportedly is calling it quits.

The committee claimed in a letter sent to First Selectman Bob Mallozzi and the Town Council, there isn’t sufficient communication between the town and school board and that recommended changes haven’t been implemented, according to The New Canaanite.

The committee, which was organized to help town departments with financial reporting practices, intends to suspend itself on Nov. 1 unless the town and school administrations make the committee’s recommended changes.
