New Canaan Board Of Ed Preps For Upcoming Teacher Contract Talks
Negotiations between the two sides begin in July.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Preparations are underway with the New Canaan Board of Education and Schools Superintendent Dr. Bryan Luizzi for upcoming contract negotiations with the teachers union, reports the New Canaan Advertiser.
Negotiations are set to begin in July, and spending on teachers' salaries is the largest component of the Board of Ed's annual budget.
Members of the Board of Finance, seeking to better understand some of school district's budget needs, is hoping to meet more frequently with the education board in the coming year and beyond, according to the publication.

The meetings could help because the finance group warns that town budgets will be tight in the future, as property taxes are already set to increase next year.
