New Canaan CARES to Host “Preparing for the Age of AI” Community Conversation
A father-and-son community conversation helping families navigate AI with greater understanding, responsibility and confidence.
New Canaan CARES, will host its Fall Community Conversation at New Canaan Library, “Preparing for the Age of AI: A Father & Son Perspective featuring Conor & Finn Grennan,” on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Jim and Dede Bartlett Auditorium at New Canaan Library.
Designed for middle and high school students and their parents or caregivers, the program will explore how families can navigate the rapidly changing world of artificial intelligence together.
Featuring New Canaan's own Conor and Finn Grennan, the evening will take the form of a moderated fireside chat. Through a father-and-son perspective, Conor and Finn will model the kinds of conversations families can have about AI, including how young people are using the technology, where parents can provide guidance and oversight, and how families can approach AI with curiosity, responsibility, and healthy boundaries.

The program was developed in response to feedback from parents who have expressed concern and uncertainty about AI and the impact it may have on children and future generations.
The conversation will focus on helping parents better understand today’s AI environment, including what young people may already be encountering, while offering practical guidance for deciding when and how children should use AI. The program will also encourage parents and children to learn about emerging technology together and consider how AI can be used responsibly and thoughtfully.
