New Canaan Coronavirus: Drive-Thru Testing Coming To New Canaan

"Drive-thru testing for New Canaan residents only will commence on Friday, March 20th," said Director of Emergency Management Mike Handler.​

NEW CANAAN, CT — Drive-thru testing for the new coronavirus (COVID-19) is coming to New Canaan beginning March 20, announced Mike Handler, the town's director of Emergency Management, on Tuesday.

"With respect to testing, the New Canaan Department of Health, has contracted with Murphy Medical Associates to conduct FDA approved COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus testing," Handler said in a statement. "This testing will be done in accordance with CDC testing guidelines. Drive-thru testing for New Canaan residents only will commence on Friday, March 20th."

As of Tuesday, Connecticut had 68 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 48 of which are in Fairfield County, state officials said. Of those 48, 20 are in Westport.

Based on Patch reporting, among the communities with confirmed cases — in addition to New Canaan and Westport — are Bethlehem, Darien, Farmington, Greenwich, Milford, New Haven, Norwalk, Ridgefield, Rocky Hill, Stamford, Stratford, Waterbury and Wilton.

It is 7:00 pm on March 17th and this is Emergency Management Director Mike Handler with an
important update on the novel coronavirus. Thank you for continuing to take our social
distancing and strict limits on social gathering seriously. Please continue to use curb-side pickup and delivery from our local restaurants.

With respect to testing, the New Canaan Department of Health, has contracted with Murphy
Medical Associates to conduct FDA approved COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus testing. This testing
will be done in accordance with CDC testing guidelines. Drive-thru testing for New Canaan
residents only will commence on Friday, March 20th. Testing will be conducted by appointment
only and with a prescription, which will be provided by Murphy Medical Group. To begin the
process, you must visit www.coronatestct.com. On the site, you will be instructed to
complete THREE forms. We suggest you begin the process as soon as possible. We have
attempted to make this process as smooth as possible. Please be patient. If your questions
cannot be answered by Murphy Associates, please contact the New Canaan Department of
