New Canaan Coronavirus Update: 5th Resident Dies; 48 Cases
The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 had reached 48 in New Canaan as of Tuesday.
NEW CANAAN, CT — A fifth New Canaan resident passed away of complications from the new coronavirus (COVID-19) as of Tuesday, announced Mike Handler, the town's director of Emergency Management.
Details about that individual were not disclosed, and Handler added that the number of confirmed cases of the virus had reached 48 in New Canaan.
"Remember, we are still awaiting 40 test results from New Canaan’s March 26th test date," Handler said in a statement. "A gentle reminder to all that while grocery shopping is essential, it is not appropriate to bring the whole family to the store unless you absolutely have no alternative. Please continue to maintain adequate social distancing, thoroughly wash your hands and avoid all social gathering."

Statewide, the number of people who have lost their lives to the virus reached 69, an increase of 16 since Monday, according to state health officials. The total number of coronavirus cases in Connecticut is 3,128 as of Tuesday. In Fairfield County, the number of new positive cases reached 1,870, up from 1,445.

Handler said Covid-19 testing remains available, by appointment only, at Norwalk, Stamford and Greenwich Hospitals.
"To obtain an appointment at any of these sites, you will need a prescription from your personal physician," he said.
