New Canaan Coronavirus Update: Confirmed Cases At 162
In Fairfield County, the number of new positive cases broke the 10,000 barrier at 10,008 as of Thursday.
NEW CANAAN, CT — The number of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) in New Canaan stands at 162 as of Thursday, and the number of residents who have died from the virus remains at 21, according to Mike Handler, the town's director of Emergency Management.
Statewide, the number of deaths reached 1,639 as of Thursday, and confirmed COVID-19 cases stands at 23,100, according to state health officials.

It is 7:00 pm on April 23rd and this is Mike Handler with an update. New Canaan currently has a total of 162 positive cases and our loss of life is 21.
Saturday’s face mask distribution will take place at Waveny Park. Please review the details on the Town’s website at www.newcanaan.info. Your time slot depends on which school district you live in. To avoid any confusion, masks will not be distributed at any school, only at Waveny Park on Saturday. We are currently addressing the mask needs of our seniors and those with pre-existing medical conditions. Those at-risk residents should call the health department at (203) 594-3037 and we will arrange to have a mask delivered to you.
Details of New Canaan’s Face Mask Distribution are as follows:
Where: Waveny Park
When: Saturday, April 25th between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm
Entrance: You can only enter the park from South Avenue
Exit: You can only exit the park from Lapham Road
Prohibited: No pedestrians, No Bicycles
To control traffic, we have allocated time slots based on school districts:
Residents living in the South School District: 9 am – 11 am
Residents living in the East School District: 11 am – 1 pm
Residents living in the West School District: 1 pm – 3 pm
You can check which district your home is located in by clicking on the Map or searching the Database
Additional information:
Each vehicle should ideally have one family member
When instructed to do so, please roll down your rear passenger window and masks will be dropped into your vehicle
Each car will receive 4 simple face masks—there will be no exceptions
Please follow all directions
