New Canaan Emergency Management Director Mike Handler issued the following update on Friday:

Given the poor weather forecast for tomorrow, we are going to open the high school tennis courts on Sunday, May 10th. As we move towards a phased re-opening it is vital that we all continue to wear masks, wash our hands frequently and maintain proper social distancing. This pertains to our children as well as our adults. At this time, I think it is appropriate that I change the frequency of these outcalls. Going forward, I plan to share information via outcalls on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I will continue to regularly update the town-wide data on the town’s website at www.newcanaan.info. Should something time-sensitive emerge, I will certainly not hesitate to share with you all. Please do not take this to mean that your emergency operations team is spending any less time or energy related to COVID-19. It would be a serious misstep to assume that the reduction in the frequency of the outcalls signifies in any way that we are “out of the woods.” It has never been more important to be vigilant and diligent in adhering to the guidelines.
