NEW CANAAN, CT — The town will distribute free face masks to residents on Saturday, April 25, as part of New Canaan's efforts to slow the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19), announced Mike Handler, director of Emergency Management.

The distribution event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Waveny Park, but will be given out by school district. Information on distribution is as follows:

  • The site for distribution will be Waveny Park
  • Masks will be distributed on Saturday, April 25th between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm
  • To control traffic, we have allocated time slots based on school districts:
  1. Residents living in the South School District: 9 am – 11 am
  2. Residents living in the East School District: 11 am – 1 pm
  3. Residents living in the West School District: 1 pm – 3 pm
  • You can check which district your home is in by going to the Town’s website at www.newcanaan.info and clicking on the COVID-19 Link
  • Each vehicle should ideally have one family member
  • You will be instructed to roll down your rear passenger window and masks will be dropped into your vehicle
  • Each car will receive 4 simple face masks—there will be no exceptions
Seniors and those at-risk residents:
  • The safest place for our seniors and at-risk residents is in their homes
  • We have and continue to supply this segment of our population with masks and they do not need to visit Saturday’s distribution site to pick up masks
  • If you are in need of a mask, please call our Health Department at (203) 594-3037 and we will arrange to deliver you a mask

"We know that no matter how well we plan this distribution project, challenges will emerge," Handler said. "We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding."
