New Canaan Councilman Suggests Considering Trapping Ban
Town residents have been talking after a picture of a fox caught in a leg hold trap meant for a coyote surfaced.
Town Councilman John Engel suggested the council look into whether it’s possible to enact a ban on leg-hold traps after a fox was caught in one.
Engel suggested the possibility of putting the item on the public agenda so town residents could comment, according to the New Canaanite.
A Briscoe Road woman spotted a fox stuck in a leg hold trap on Jan. 13. The trap was meant to catch coyotes and was within state law.
