New Canaan Country School Community Gathered for Annual 5K Race
The friend-raising event was sponsored by the school's Parents' Association and involved students, faculty, staff, alumni and parents.

Several hundred members of the New Canaan Country School community gathered for the annual Cougar Run 5K race, a Chase the Cougar Fun Run and a children’s obstacle course on the school’s 75-acre campus, Sept. 21. The friend-raising event was sponsored by the school’s Parents’ Association and involved students, faculty, staff, alumni and parents.
James Randon '09 returned to lead the 5K runners in pre-stretch exercises and then paced them through the race. While a student at Yale University, James had the distinction of being the first student runner to break the 4-minute-mile barrier in the school’s history. He recently ran in the finals of the U.S. National Championships, 1500 meters, and is one of the founders of Recover Athletics, a new app that assists in injury recovery and prevention.
“I first put on my running shoes here,” said James. “It’s great to see that there is still a school-wide passion for running.”
