New Canaan Country School Grad Nominated for Oscar
Alumnus Matthew Heineman's documentary Cartel Land was nominated for Best Documentary.
New Canaan Country School alumnus Matthew Heineman’s new documentary Cartel Land has been nominated for a Best Documentary Oscar award.
The film follows vigilantes on both sides of the Mexican border who are working to derail drug cartel efforts. It was released in July 2015 and was broadcast by A&E in January.
Heineman graduated in 1998 from New Canaan Country School, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.

He won the Best Director Award and Special Jury Award for Cinematography in the U.S. Documentary Competition at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
