New Canaan Custodian Committed Worker's Comp Fraud: Officials

The school custodian was injured on the job, but was found working another job while collecting benefits, officials said.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A school custodian who supposedly suffered an on-the-job injury was found to be working at another job while collecting worker's compensation benefits, according to the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice. Courtney Wills, 37, of Bridgeport collected more than $21,000 in worker's compensation benefits after he suffered an injury in April 2016.

Wills is a custodian at New Canaan High School. He was later observed installing carpets and said under oath he hadn't performed any other work while collecting benefits, according to the Division of Criminal Justice.

He was charged with fraudulent claim or receipt of benefits and perjury.
