New Canaan Fire Department Adds New Truck With Rescue Tools

NEW CANAAN, CT — The New Canaan Fire Department recently added a new truck capable of heavy lifting to its lineup of vehicles.

According to a post on the town's Facebook page, Rescue 5 will respond to vehicle crashes, entrapments and rope rescue incidents.

The truck also carries a full complement of vehicle rescue tools, including the "jaws of life," and equipment to assist a vehicle that has rolled over or gone off the road.

"The truck has an onboard generator to power equipment and provides scene lighting, a 12,000-pound winch that can operate off any side of the truck and riding positions for four firefighters," the post reads.
