New Canaan Girl Scout Troop Provides Back to School Supplies for Underprivileged School

Troop 50521, a 9th grade Senior Troop from New Canaan has been collecting supplies and donations as part of their “Surprise Supplies” campaign to earn their Silver Awards.

The girls have created a website and are using other social media to get sponsors, donations and supplies for a school in need.

There are several donation boxes in town including at The New Canaan Library, St. Aloysius and Food Emporium. They will be there until September 15th. They are collecting new supplies such as pencils, wide and college ruled Composition and Spiral Notebooks, 24 packs of Crayons, erasers, pens, pocket folders, glue sticks and other supplies. There is a donation list on each of the boxes as well.

Through their project they have learned valuable life skills in budgeting, grant writing, project management and team work.

They also used some of their own money from Cookie and QSP sales to buy supplies. Thank you very much to Bankwell of New Canaan, Karl Chevrolet and Mackenzies for their donations!
