NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan High School will host a weeklong safe driving campaign next month that aims to bring attention to distracted driving.

In a news release, Police Lt. Marc DeFelice said the campaign will take place April 8-12 and shine a light on distracted driving practices such as texting and driving under the influence.

The week will culminate with a motor vehicle crash reenactment at New Canaan High School on April 12 beginning at 11 a.m.

New Canaan High School SRO Officer Jeff Deak, along with NCPD School Resource Officers, the Youth Services Division and a number of patrol officers, will be facilitating this initiative, according to DeFelice.

"We would like to extend our appreciation to the New Canaan High School staff," DeFelice said in a news release, "New Canaan Fire Department, New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps, New Canaan Highway Department and New Canaan Parks and Recreation Department for their continued support to make this a success."
